Our approach
The main therapeutic approach
This section presents the cognitive-behavioral approach, which has proven its effectiveness in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders. It includes a variety of strategies that can be adapted to suit the customer’s needs.
Cognitive behavioral therapy
-
The effectiveness of CBT is based on rigorous, controlled empirical research -
The focus is on modifying the thoughts and behaviours that maintain problems -
The approach is highly dynamic, collaborative and focused on the needs of the individual. -
The integration of complementary strategies of symptom acceptance, engagement in values-centered action and present-moment mindfulness is encouraged, as needed (third wave of CBT). -
Emotional experience, life history and events related to current difficulties are given particular importance.
Strategies used
Different strategies can be taught, such as:
-
Psycho-education to help you better understand your difficulties, their impact and the factors that maintain them -
Breathing and relaxation exercises to help manage stress and the physical symptoms of anxiety -
Cognitive restructuring, which aims to modify the thoughts, beliefs or interpretations that maintain the difficulties. -
Exposure exercises that allow you to face your fears gradually and at your own pace -
Problem-solving strategies based on the stressors experienced by the individual
Special features
-
If necessary, exercises to do at home can be suggested -
The client is directly involved in the therapeutic process -
Customers are encouraged to take charge of their own lives, and observe their progress between meetings. -
The customer comes to develop and master strategies for dealing with problem situations on his own.
